習近平強調，臺灣問題是中美關系中最重要的問題。處理好了，兩國關系就能保持總體穩定。處理不好，兩國就會碰撞甚至沖突，將整個中美關系推向十分危險的境地。“臺獨”與臺海和平水火不容。維護臺海和平穩定是中美雙方最大公約數。
