據(jù)日本NHK報道，周五，日美兩國人士在華盛頓舉行的儀式上共同栽種了由日本贈送的櫻花樹苗。

日本捐贈了250株櫻花樹苗，以紀念美國建國250周年（Japan donated 250 cherry tree saplings to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US）。

其中三株樹苗被栽種在波托馬克河畔的一座公園內(nèi)，該區(qū)域因春季盛開的數(shù)千株櫻花而聞名。

1912年，日本曾向華盛頓贈送約3000株櫻花樹，作為兩國友誼的象征（In 1912, Japan presented about 3,000 cherry trees to Washington as a symbol of friendship between the two countries）。

包括日本大使館與美國政府官員在內(nèi)的約百人出席了周五的儀式（Around 100 people, including officials from the Japanese Embassy and the US government, took part in Friday's ceremony）。

日本大使山田重夫表示，希望這250株櫻花樹與園內(nèi)其他櫻花樹一道，在未來歲月里聯(lián)結(jié)兩國人民。

正在學習日語的小學生們演唱了一首關于櫻花的歌曲，在場觀眾紛紛拍照留念（Elementary school students studying Japanese sang a song about cherry blossoms as onlookers took photos）。

一位參與櫻花樹保護工作的女士表示，兩國人民在美國建國250周年之際相聚于此，意義“格外非凡”。

一名學生的母親說，她相信兒子將來有一天會帶著自己的孩子回到這里，告訴他們自己曾參與此次栽種活動（she believes her son will someday return with his own children and tell them he was there for the planting）。

全部250株樹苗預計將于明年春季完成栽種（The planting of all 250 saplings is expected to be completed by next spring）。
