這個副詞不難猜，看著很像 style「風格」。沒錯，二者詞根相同。stylish 是形容詞，表示 attractive in a fashionable way「新潮的；雅致的」。ding~你的「夸人詞匯」加一，當然你完全可以用來夸自己。

除了形容人外，stylish 也可以形容設計、建筑物等「氣派的」。比如，a stylish restaurant in the West End 是指「位于倫敦西區的一家有氣派的飯店」。

spacious

四級 + 考研詞匯

是不是想到了 space「空間」，那么它派生的形容詞該是什么意思呢？如果一個地方空間很多，說明很寬敞對吧？這就是 spacious「寬敞的」。比如 a spacious kitchen「寬敞的廚房」。另外，roomy 也可以表示類似含義。

這里的 offer 不再是動詞「提供」，而是作名詞。但在本文中，它不是大家希望得到的學校或者工作錄取 offer，而是「特價，減價」。

另外，它也可以表示「特價商品」，作者在本段正是用到了這個用法。那么「贈品」的英文是什么呢？很好，a free offer。

這個詞派生在 tap，除了表示「閥門」外，它還常用來表示「利用」，或者構成詞組 tap into 使用，意思不變。比如，tap one’s experience 是指「利用經驗」。

所以 untapped 意思是 available but not yet used，形容資源、市場或天賦等 「未開發的，未利用的」。2020 年 9 月六級真題閱讀在第一篇的開頭就有這個單詞。

stipulate

六級 + 考研詞匯

這是個動詞，意思是 to state clearly and firmly that sth must be done, or how it must be done「規定，約定」，和 require，specify，state 等詞相近。對應的名詞是 stipulation。stipulate 后面可以直接加名詞、名詞短語，或者加 that 從句，我們來看個例子。

The regulations stipulate that everything has to comply to the relevant safety standards.

條例規定一切都要遵守相關的安全標準。

malicious /m??l???s/

表示 having or showing hatred and a desire to harm sb or hurt their feelings「懷有惡意的，惡毒的」，相當于 malevolent , spiteful。

further intensify the market

intensify 是個很常用且很重要的動詞，表示 to increase in degree or strength, or to make something do this「使加劇」，或「增強」。但如果把文中的 intensify the market 直譯為「加劇市場」卻不合適，加劇的不是市場，而是市場競爭。所以 further intensify the market 是指「進一步加劇了市場競爭」。
