據新華社消息，當地時間6月22日，英國首相斯塔默在唐寧街發表講話，宣布辭去首相職務。
The UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation on Monday, amid weakening electoral performance and mounting internal Labour Party pressure, saying he would begin an orderly transition of Labour Party leadership.

基爾·斯塔默1962年9月2日出生于英國倫敦薩瑟克區，畢業于利茲大學、牛津大學，獲法學學士學位。1987年起，他在私營機構當律師，2008年至2013年任英國皇家檢察署檢察長，2015年當選議會下院議員，2020年當選工黨黨首。
2024年7月，工黨在英國大選中獲得壓倒性勝利，斯塔默出任首相。
近來，英國政壇的一系列丑聞和政策變動令他面臨巨大壓力，許多選民認為他無法兌現改善民眾生活水平的承諾。
Since coming to office with a commanding House of Commons majority in 2024, Starmer's Labour government has repeatedly struggled to gain momentum. It suffered huge losses to Nigel Farage's right-wing Reform UK in local elections, has been hit by multiple scandals, and Starmer has U-turned on a series of key policies in the face of pressure from his own ranks.
