意思是「廢除，撤銷」協議、許可等。《風騷律師》Saul 被吊銷律師執照，其中「吊銷」就是 revoke。

2??contender
想必大家已經看出，它派生自動詞 contend，意思是to compete against someone in order to gain something「競爭；爭奪」。contend for sth 則是「為了某事而爭奪」，比如，contend for power。可以替換 compete for sth。另，vie for sth 也是用來表達相同意思，大家可以一下子鎖定這三個短語。名詞 contender 則是「競爭者」。

3??indelible
意思是「無法忘記的；不可磨滅的」，類似 permanent。常與 mark, impression 等構成搭配，leave indelible marks/impressions on sb 意思是「給某人留下不可磨滅的印記/使某人難以忘懷」。

她的話多年來我都難以忘懷。
4??illuminate
原本意思為蠟燭、燈光等「照亮」。如果有人把某事給你解釋清楚，你也會「眼前一亮」對不對？所以 illuminate 還可引申為「闡明；解釋」，相當于 clarify, explain 等。

報告闡明了科學方針核心部分的難點。
