摘 要 / Abstract
The rise of China has reshaped global politics, raising questions about how states position themselves toward this power. While economic leverage is often emphasized, evidence remains inconclusive, with domestic and international dynamics also playing key roles. This paper examines small states’ responses to China’s core interests through cases of Chile, Uruguay, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Using a most similar case comparison with documents and interviews, it highlights how diverse combinations of economic, political, and strategic factors explain variation in government positions, offering broader insights into small states’ foreign policy behavior.
