Photo-Induced Oxidative C?H Esterification of Quinoxalinones with Arylaldehydes under Mild Conditions

The first example for photo-induced oxidative C?H esterification of quinoxalinones with arylaldehydes under benign conditions has been reported. This method is distinguished by its capacity to accommodate a diverse array of quinoxalinones and arylaldehydes, culminating in the synthesis of the corresponding esters with moderate to good yields. The protocol is lauded for its environmental benignity, eschewing the need for hazardous transition metals and costly photocatalysts, and relies solely on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant. Moreover, the scalability of the synthesis and the derivative transformations of the products have been demonstrated, underscoring its practical utility in organic synthesis.

Photoredox-Catalyzed Radical Alkylation/Cyclization of Isocyanides with Organoboron Reagents for Diversified Synthesis of N-Heteroaromatics

The utility of alkyl boronic acids as alkyl radical precursors in photoredox-catalyzed reactions has been limited due to their low reactivity. A photoredox-catalyzed radical alkylation/cyclization of functional arylisocyanides with alkyl boronic acids is reported herein. This strategy allows the formation of alkyl radicals from boronic acids containing primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl groups, which are subsequently transformed into structurally diverse alkylated products, including quinoxalines, phenanthridines, benzothiazoles, benzoselenazoles and quinolines. This transformation features readily available radical precursors and a broad substrate scope. The reaction mechanism is investigated by fluorescence quenching, light on/off, and cyclic voltammograms (CV) experiments. The combination of alkyl boronic acids with DBU may lead to the formation of the alkyl radical via a single electron transfer (SET) process, while the arylisocyanides may undergo an energy transfer (EnT) process with photocatalyst under visible light to generate the carbon radical or act as a radical acceptor to react with the alkyl radical.

Rh(III)-Catalyzed C?H Cyclization of 2-Arylbenzimidazoles with CF3-Imidoyl Sulfoxonium Ylides and Further Sc(III)-Catalyzed Deaminative Hydroxylation

An efficient Rh(III)-catalyzed C?H bond activation/cyclization of 2-arylbenzimidazoles with CF3-imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides has been achieved, yielding diverse CF3? and amino-disubstituted 5,6-dihydrobenzoimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolines, which could undergo a deaminative hydroxylation to access CF3? and hydroxy-disubstituted 5,6-dihydrobenzoimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolines catalyzed by Sc(OTf)3. This developed strategy features easily available starting materials, broad substrate scope, good scalability and high efficiency. Moreover, the antitumor activities of selected products against some human cancer cell lines were also investigated, and the results indicated that several products show antiproliferative activities.

Electrochemical Dual Trifluoromethylation/Cyclization of 2-Aryl-N-Acryloyl Indoles Enabling Assembly of Indole[2,1-a]isoquinolines

An electrochemical cascade radical cyclization of 2-aryl-N-acryloyl indoles with sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate as a coupling partner has been explored, which afforded the unexpected bis-trifluoromethylated indole[2,1-a]isoquinolines as products. Experimental results and DFT calculations disclose that this reaction involves trifluoromethylation-triggered cyclization and the second trifluoromethylation as the key steps. This strategy does not need any transition-metal catalysts or oxidants with a readily available trifluoromethylating reagent enabling facile synthesis of bis-trifluoromethylated indole-fused tricycles.

Simultaneous Construction of Axial and Central Stereogenicity by Cobalt-Catalyzed Stereoconvergent Reductive Coupling of Heterobiaryl Triflates and Aldehydes

Vinylene-Linked Fully Conjugated 3D Covalent Organic Polymers for Photocatalytic H2O2 Production

Spatial Confinement of Pd Nanoclusters in Pyrene-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks for Boosting Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

COFs rich in N and S sites were utilized to anchor Pd ions and grow in situ into Pd nanoclusters. This enabled the IEF enhancement to drive the directional migration of photogenerated electrons and promote carrier separation. Meanwhile, the introduced Pd NCs act as active sites for CO2 adsorption and activation, realizing the efficiency enhancement of CO2 conversion to CO under visible light.

Direct Recycling of Cathode Materials from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries: Principles, Strategies, and Perspectives

Oxidation of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural over ZnIn2S4/Ti3C2Tx

Sulfur vacancy-enriched ZIS/MXene photocatalyst synthesized via self-assembly. Vs-ZIS-8/MX-6 achieves 87.3% HMF conversion and 72.9% DFF selectivity. An enhanced built-in electric field was constructed through the formation of a Schottky heterojunction between the two components. Extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy results confirmed the formation of Zn-O coordination bonds at the interface of vacancy-enriched ZIS (Vs-ZIS) and MXene.

Highly-Efficient Recycling of Poly(ethylene terephthalate)/Polyethylene Film through Low-Temperature Methanolysis Catalyzed by Nonmetallic Deep Eutectic Solvent

Facing the challenge of recycling multilayer plastic waste, a sustainable chemical process has been developed. Using a nonmetallic deep eutectic solvent, poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) is selectively depolymerized via methanolysis under mild conditions into dimethyl terephthalate (DMT, 97.1% yield) and ethylene glycol (EG). Meanwhile, the polyethylene (PE) layer remains intact. A novel two-step solid–liquid separation efficiently recovers pure PE, DMT, and EG, while the DES catalyst is successfully recycled. This work provides a green and scalable closed-loop solution for upcycling multilayer packaging materials.

Upcycling Polyoxymethylene via H2O2-Mediated Selective Oxidation

A sustainable methodology is reported for the mild upcycling of polyoxymethylene (POM) into formic acid using H2O2 as an oxidizing agent with microporous H-Beta zeolite. This approach enables simultaneous POM depolymerization and H2O2 activation, enhanced by 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol. This effective conversion of waste POM into valuable formic acid addresses recycling challenges and promotes sustainable plastic waste management, contributing to a circular economy.

Benzene Ring Engineering of Graphitic Carbon Nitride for Enhanced Photocatalytic Dye Degradation and Hydrogen Production from Water Splitting

The increased photocatalytic activity is assigned to the grafting of aromatic benzene ring into the end of the heptazine polymer chains, which promotes photoinduced electron–hole pairs separation and charge transfer properties.

A Poly (β-Amino Esters)-Based Multicomponent Nanoparticle for Efficient mRNA Delivery to Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cells

A structurally engineered nonviral vector (poly (β-amino esters)-lipid-palmitic anhydride nanoparticles) integrates a poly(β-amino ester) core for mRNA binding, palmitic anhydride for enhancing cellular uptake, and cationic 1,2-Dioleoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane lipid for endosomal disruption is developed, which achieves 64.4% transfection efficiency in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells (MOLM13) with minimal toxicity, showcasing a versatile platform for AML research and mRNA-based therapeutics.

Radical-Mediated Sulfonylarylation of Unactivated Alkynes via Intramolecular 1,4-(hetero)aryl Migration

A photoredox neutral sulfonylarylation of unactivated alkynes is achieved through a radical-mediated intramolecular 1,4-(hetero)aryl migration. The product configuration can be controlled under the irradiation of blue or green light. The method features mild, transition metal-free conditions, good compatibility of functional groups, and high levels of regio- and stereoselectivity in the product formation.

ZIF67-Derived Carbon@SiO2 Anode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries: Preparation, Characterization, and Performance

In Situ Characterization of Competitive (De)Lithiation in Silicon/Graphite Composite Electrodes via Electrode Curvature Measurement

An in-situ method for characterizing competitive (de)lithiation in silicon/graphite electrodes is developed in this paper. By utilizing electrode curvature measurements and establishing the curvature capacity relationship, the capacity evolution of individual components is quantified. Distinct competitive (de)lithiation stages are revealed. This method provides a new perspective for analyzing electrochemical processes within multiphase active material systems.

Progress in Aptamer Research and Future Applications

MIPs facilitate osteogenic treatments by guiding stem cell differentiation and delivering bioactive molecules and enable precise detection of bone turnover biomarkers via MIP-based sensors, offering promising strategies for next-generation bone repair and monitoring.

Preparation of P-Doped Ni Catalyst Using Deep Eutectic Solvents and Its Excellent Hydrogen Evolution Performance in Water Splitting

A deep eutectic solvent (DES) prepared by mixing tetraalkylphosphonium chloride ([P4444]Cl) and glycerol is applied in the synthesis of P-doped Ni materials. The DES not only serves as the reaction medium but also participates in the catalyst preparation. The synthesized P-doped Ni catalyst exhibits excellent performance in HER in both acidic and alkaline environments.

Development of an Integrated Computational Pipeline for PARP-1 Inhibitor Screening Using Hybrid Virtual Screening and Molecular Dynamics Simulations

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) is vital for DNA repair. A computational workflow integrating AI-driven virtual screening (TransFoxMol, KarmaDock, AutoDock Vina) and molecular dynamics identified novel PARP-1 inhibitors with promising efficacy and minimized side effects. Our approach offers systematic insights for advancing precision oncology drug discovery and clinical research.

The insights provide an aim to accelerate the development of high-performance, cost-effective LMFP cathode materials for advanced lithium-ion battery technology.

Carbonylative Transformations of Aryl Sulfonium Salts

Carbonyl derivatives are widely present in biologically active molecules, pharmaceuticals, natural products, and materials, and their synthesis has garnered much attention. Direct carbonylation of aromatic C-H bonds is an effective tool for the synthesis of carbonyl compounds. In this review, the recent advances in the site-selective carbonylation transformation of arenes via aryl sulfonium salts, as well as their reaction mechanisms and synthetic applications are summarized and discussed systematically.

Charge-Assisted Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Frameworks: From Crystal Engineering to Multifunctional Materials

Multilayered sandwich-structured MXene/pristine carbon/biomass cellulose composite films have been constructed with a hierarchical network architecture. A symmetric flexible soft-pack supercapacitor fabricated by using the film retains 98% of its initial capacitance after 10 000 cycles.
